To help you make your decision, we asked our customers for input. What are the pros and cons of a heat pump, what about the noise and does the heat pump work well during the winter months? What is ISDE and how does this subsidy work?
The Investment subsidy for sustainable energy and energy saving (ISDE) is a subsidy scheme for homeowners who want to make their house more sustainable. With the ISDE, you apply for subsidies for various types of measures to make your home more sustainable, such as a (hybrid) heat pump or a solar boiler.
Earlier, it was the case that you always had to complete two sustainability works to get a subsidy. For example, do you only want to have a (hybrid) heat pump installed? Then it was not possible to get a subsidy for this. Fortunately, there is good news: since 2023, this is no longer the case! You will now simply get a subsidy if you only do 1 sustainability measure. However, there are certain conditions attached to getting this subsidy.
How much subsidy can I get?
The amount of the subsidy depends on the type of heat pump you take. In 2023, the amounts apply:
- Outdoor hybrid heat pump: between âŹ1,950 and 4,000 subsidy.
- Complete air-to-water heat pump: between âŹ1,950 and âŹ3,750.
- Ground source heat pump: between âŹ3,750 and âŹ5,100.
- The subsidy amount depends on the capacity and energy label. The above amounts apply to heat pumps with a capacity of:
- outdoor hybrid heat pump: 3 to 7 kW
- Complete air-to-water heat pump: 3 to 12 kW
- Full ground source heat pump: 4 to 16 kW
Tip: if you combine the heat pump with another sustainability measure, you can get a higher subsidy. Find more information in our article on subsidies when you make your home more sustainable.
What conditions must I meet for a heat pump subsidy?
If you want to be eligible for the ISDE subsidy as an individual, you must meet a number of conditions:
- Get a new heat pump. So it should not be second-hand or used.
- The maximum thermal power may be 400 kW. For switched installations, the maximum is 500 kW.
- The subsidy is only available for heat pumps for space heating or domestic hot water heating. Subsidy application is therefore not possible for a heat pump dryer.
- The heat pump must be installed in a house built before 1 January 2019 or with planning permission applied for before 1 July 2018.
- You must have an invoice and proof of payment for purchase and installation of the heat pump.
- So this also means that you won’t get a subsidy if you install the heat pump yourself. So have this done by a building installation company.
- Want to know more about installation? Then read our article on (having) your hybrid heat pump installed.
- Fortunately, you have some time to apply for the subsidy. In fact, this must be submitted within 24 months of installation.
Step-by-step plan: how do I apply for ISDE?
For private individuals, the step-by-step plan below applies. Would you like to apply for a heat pump on a business basis? Then read the ISDE step-by-step plan for entrepreneurs from the RVO
Step-by-step plan for ISDE applications by private individuals
- Make sure you meet previously mentioned conditions.
- Find the notification code of the relevant heat pump in the RFO’s notification code list. Is your heat pump not listed? No problem! You can still apply for the subsidy, but make sure the heat pump meets the requirements.
- Buy the heat pump and plan the installation with the construction company. Keep the proof of purchase and proof of payment well. This is because you will need these for the application! *Simply download your heat pump payment receipt from your bank’s app!
- It is also important to keep specification booklets, among other things. This is because you need to enter this information during your application.
- Have your heat pump installed and ask for proof of installation, such as the invoice stating that the company spent x number of hours on the installation. Take photos of the work and make sure the name, brand and type of heat pump are visible in the photo.
- After installation, you can submit the application to the RFO. Go to the website, log in with your DigiD, fill in the application form and attachments. After a correctly completed form, you will be refunded part of the purchase and installation!
